Installation note:
- Because shallow foundation is so narrow, it can be a little harder to pop the foundation into groove-top, groove-bottom frames.
- Put the foundation into the top bar first, then gently flex the bottom bar up to get the foundation into the middle of the bottom bar, then use fingers to snap into the rest of the bottom bar.
- This work can be tedious and rough on your hands, so we also recommend considering assembling your own shallow frames and installing foundation into the frame before attaching the bottom bar.
Black foundation:
- Great for brood, the high contrast against eggs allows easier identification
White foundation:
- Great for supers, the light nature of the plastic displays true color of honey
Note:
- Adding wax yourself? Read our waxing instructions
How to Install:
Put either the top or bottom edge of the foundation into its groove in the frame, then flex the foundation and pop the other edge into the other groove. Foundation comes coated with a thin layer of beeswax, but we recommend coating these with more beeswax when starting frames (instructions for waxing) Bees draw out wax-coated plastic foundation, all-wax foundation, or foundationless frames equally well, if they have a populous hive and plenty of nectar coming in (or sugar syrup).
Dimensions:
- Foundation: 16-3/4″ long x 4-3/4″ high
