If you are unable to perform a graft, you will find these replacement bar frames very handy. The beekeeper who only grafts occasionally will also appreciate this system. After the breeder queen lays new larvae into the comb box/cell cups, cell holders are attached to the cell cups. The cell holders are then attached to cell bar fixtures, which are glued onto the wooden frame. The frame is placed into a queen-less finishing hive. After 8-10 days the larvae in the cell cups should be completely enclosed. Once this has occurred, a hair roller cage is placed over each larva and kept on the emerging queen for approximately 16 days. On or around the 16th day, the new queen should emerge into the cage. These bar frame fixtures are sold as a replacement component for our Queen Rearing Kit. If you are just starting out with queen rearing, we recommend our Queen Rearing kit, which includes all of the necessary equipment.
Hint: A glue gun works very well for Cup Holder installation.
