Medium Follower Board

Managing bee space (space absent of comb or propolis where bees can freely roam) is important to aid in ventilation, temperature control, and helps prevent abnormal comb growth. Our medium follower board is made with a piece of plywood and works in a pair by removing a medium frame, then placing one board against both outside walls, reducing space inside the hive.

If you are using 8 frames inside of a 10 frame hive body, or need to reduce your frame count below the hive’s designated size, you should introduce follower boards so that you can then space the remaining frames closer together. If frames are too far apart, bees will build comb outward in a more dome like shape to reduce space

Notes:

• Includes one follower board. Purchase two if you plan to use as a pair.
• The follower board’s flat side faces your other frames with the bar side against the hive body, creating a 3/8″ gap for the bees to access
