Essentials Kit: Lyson Assem

This is a Langstroth beehive made of polystyrene and is manufactured by Lyson in Poland. It is a 10 frame hive that comes both assembled and unassembled. You could either reunite colonies or add to the hive by adding to the boxes. This comes with all the components necessary to start a colony quickly.

When choosing your frame options, if you choose plastic we highly recommend applying extra beeswax on the frames. This increases the bees’ acceptance and entices them to draw out faster. You can buy assembled frames with extra wax already put on, or if you have your own beeswax you can use that. Betterbee also sells beeswax that you can purchase to paint it on yourself. (Melt in a double boiler and use a foam brush to lightly paint it on.)

The Lyson Hive Kit Includes:

• Outer Cover with 8 Polystyrene Plugs and 8 Plastic Venting Plugs
• Cloth inner cover
• Two Assembled Deep Hive Bodies with Latches
• 20 Deep Assembled Frames*
• Mouse guard/entrance reducer/closure
• Bottom board with varroa screen. Note: due to supply issues with Lyson bottom boards, we are offering a Beemax bottom board instead. The Beemax bottom board is compatible with Lyson hives. For details, click here.

Please Note: the bottom board is screwed to the bottom deep box, creating one unit that includes both bottom board and deep hive body.

Your hive comes unpainted but Betterbee recommends painting with an exterior grade latex paint.
