Assembled Shallow Frame

Sourced with eastern white pine, these pre-assembled shallow frames come with most of the work done. All you need is foundation, and the choice is yours as these frames can work with both wax foundation (wedge/groove top bar) or plastic foundation (groove/groove top bar).

When using wax foundation:

• Select the wedge/groove top bar selection
• When using for honey extraction additional support will be needed for through support pins or wiring with bee wire and a spur embedder

When using plastic foundation:

• Select groove top bars
• Because shallow foundation is so narrow, it can be a little harder to pop the foundation into groove-top, groove-bottom frames.
• Put the foundation into the top bar first, then gently flex the bottom bar up to get the foundation into the middle of the bottom bar, then use fingers to snap into the rest of the bottom bar.
• This work can be tedious and rough on your hands, so we also recommend considering assembling your own shallow frames and installing foundation into the frame before attaching the bottom bar.

• 5/8 Wedge nails are not included with the wedge/groove frames. Please order separately if needed.
